This safari will take you to the 3 renowned national parks and these are Akagera, Volcanoes and Nyungwe. These national parks offer the best of Rwanda wildlife and Primates which means that you will take part in different activities like gorilla trekking, golden monkey trekking, chimpanzee trekking, game drives and boat cruise. You will be welcomed by the tour driver guide at the airport in Kigali Rwanda after will take you through briefing, City tour where you will visit the genocide memorial grounds and discover thousands of the perished innocent souls during the 1994 genocide wars, visit the local markets like the Kigali central market, hike one of the hills and enjoy the aerial view of the city. Later on, you will head to the hotel booked for your accommodations.
Leave the city early in the morning and head to Akagera national Park that is on the border of Tanzania. The park gets its name from the Akagera River which flows on the border from Tanzania hence pouring its water in lake Ihema. This is the only savannah national park in Rwanda which means that you will enjoy the best of Rwanda wildlife while on this safari.
Take a morning game drive in the savannahs where you will spot the big five animals (rhinos, elephants, lions, buffalos and leopards) other animals like the giraffes, warthogs, zebras, different antelopes and many more. You will also spot different birds like the rare shoebill stock and many more others. The game drive will take 2 to 3 hours of adventure and you will after take an afternoon boat cruise where you will spot more wildlife such as the hippos, crocodiles, elephants and many more. You will enjoy the sunset moments in the wild which is the best for photography.
Leave Akagera national park in the morning and head to Nyungwe the only national park in Rwanda that homes the 13 Primates including the chimpanzees. The journey is also amazing as you leave the savannahs entering the jungle, passing through the tea plantations. You will head to the lodge 9n your arrival and this will be the end of the day.
Head to the park office early in the morning with a short drive or walk and attend briefing together with other trekkers. You will go through the rules and regulations that you will follow while in the forest. Among others will be don’t feed animals, always keep a distance, don’t litter the park among others. After, you will head to the forest and you will start the search which will lead you into the presence of the chimpanzees. Watch them as they jump from 9ne tree to another, making different sounds and many more others. After the experience that will last for about 2 to 4 hours, you will return to the lodge for lunch. Immediately after lunch, you will head for a canopy walk where you will spot different Primates, bird species and many more as you have an aerial view of the forest.
Leave the park premises in the morning and transfer to Volcanoes national park a home to endangered mountain gorillas. You will visit the Iby’iwacu cultural Village on this day where you will get involved in different aspects like the traditional dances and drama, traditional meals, storytelling by the local elders and much more. Support the locals by purchasing some souvenirs hence improving on their economy. Arrive and check in the accommodation facility booked for your overnight.
Be served with delicious breakfast and head to the park offices to attend briefing about this great experience in Africa. The briefing will cover different aspects including the guidelines to follow while trekking in the jungle. The mountain gorillas live in families and while carrying out this experience, you will witness then breast feed young ones in case they have, watch them play, move, make sound, and many more others. This experience can last for almost 2 to 5 hours with the gorillas. After you will head back to the lodge for your dinner and this will be the end of the day.
Golden monkey trekking will begin with briefing at the park office after breakfast and this cover different aspects like the rules and regulations which you will follow while trekking. After, you will penetrate the forest and start the search which will last for more than 2 hours including an hour which will be covered while in the presence of the rare Primates. These Primates are normally found in the bamboo forests in the upper side of the mountain. This means that the experience is characterized with hiking. You will be offered with a great experience and after lunch, you will head to Lake Kivu where you will spend 2 nights.
On this leisure day on the lake, you will Chill and relax as you take photos. You will have a boat cruise that will take you around some of the islands, local community as you meet fishermen which means that you have an option of taking part in fishing and after taste the type of fish caught.
Leave one of the resort hotels in Kivu and find your way to the Kigali city which is an amazing journey. You will be dropped at the Kigali International Airport and you will board your flight to depart home.
